Our Founder & Story
Philomene was founded in 2025 by Jacob Bennett, whose background spans fine art, gallery leadership, and creative consulting. Raised in a family of artists, Bennett developed an early understanding of the demands and realities of sustaining a long-term creative practice.
After studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Bennett spent nearly a decade working within the contemporary art world, holding leadership roles within established galleries before transitioning into independent work. This experience informs Philomene’s focus on professional structure, positioning, and continuity across artistic careers and art world organizations.
The studio's namesake is taken from Bennett's late grandmother, Philomene Bennett, a lifelong artist whose success and commitment to her work played a formative role in shaping his perspective on artistic labor, discipline, and professional continuity.

As an agency, Philomene operates as a collaborative studio drawing on contributors from a range of creative and professional backgrounds. Our work is informed by experience across the contemporary art world, business operations, strategic planning, editorial, marketing, and design, with an emphasis on practical knowledge and professional standards.
